Entre'acte op het Tuinpodium

Vrijdag 31 juli - Carmen Terol (dwarsfluit) en Leonardo Palacios (gitaar) geven deze avond een concert op het Tuinpodium als Entre'acte Duo. Ze spelen een repertoire bestaande uit een combinatie van klassieke stukken en Spaanse en Zuid-Amerikaanse werken die heel dicht bij hun culturele achtergrond staan. Twee ervan zijn gearrangeerd door gitarist Leonardo Palacios zelf en een andere, van Mozart, door zijn voormalige mentor. De stukken passen heel goed bij elkaar, laten de muzikanten weten. "Dat geeft een heel fris karakter aan het programma."

Carmen Terol

Carmen Terol begon op zesjarig leeftijd fluit te spelen bij Ateneo Musical Giner, Llaurí, Valencia, Spanje. Ze behaalde haar bachelordiploma's fluit en pedagogiek aan de Real Conservatorio Superior de Music de Madrid, Spanje bij Manuel Guerrero, en haar master aan de Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Tilburg bij Edith van Dijk en Leon Berendse.

Ze speelde met verschillende professionele orkesten zoals Antwerpen Symphony Orkest, Orquesta Nacional de España, Orquesta de Cámara de España, Orquesta Opus23, onder andere. Als solist heeft ze met 'Orquesta del conservatori de Cullera' gespeeld en als piccolo solist heeft ze met 'Banda del RCSM Madrid' opgetreden.

Kamermuziek is haar passie en ze is actief op dit gebied. Ze is lid van Entr’acte Duo en muziekensemble Oihua, Rotterdam. Ze heeft gewerkt met het Rubik Ensemble, Spanje, en Distractfold Ensemble, Engeland. Sinds februari 2017 speelt ze ook in het ensemble van Proyecto Zarza in Teatro de la Zarzuela, Madrid, Spanje.

Als docent gaf ze les aan de Young Musicians Academy opleiding aan het conservatorium van Tilburg. Momenteel is ze dwarsfluitdocent bij het MOC Spijkenisse en de SKVR, Rotterdam.

Leonardo Palacios

De gitarist, componist en docent Leonardo Palacios (1958 Montevideo, Uruguay) won verschillende prijzen zoals het prestigieuze muziekconcours 'Maria Canals' in Barcelona en de tweede prijs op het internationale gitaarconcours 'Francisco Tarrega' in Benicasim,Valencia. Hij studeerde af aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium te ’s-Gravenhage bij maestro Antonio Pereira-Arias, als Uitvoerend Musicus.

Als docent gaf hij masterclasses op verschillende scholen en tijdens festival zoals het Kamermuziek Festival in Hellevoetsluis en Le Notte de la Chitarra in Florence. Momenteel geeft hij les aan de Gitaarschool Rotterdam en in het Centrum voor Kunsten te Delft. Als solist trad hij op tijdens internationale gitaarfestivals en op concertpodia in landen zoals Uruguay, Spanje, België, Nederland, Italië en Frankrijk.

Zijn composities stralen het populaire karakter uit van de melodieën en ritmes van Zuid-Amerika: 'Milonga Vieja', 'Aire de Gato', 'Cancion de Arrullo', voor gitaar solo en 'Milonga del Caminante', voor gitaar en bandoneon. Daarnaast laat hij zich ook inspireren door poëzie van bijvoorbeeld F. Garcia Lorca (1898-1936) met zijn 'Sonetos del Amor Oscuro', voor mezzosopraan en gitaar. Zijn cd met Zuid-Amerikaanse componisten 'Nostalgias' uit 2015 is met vol succes ontvangen en zijn nieuwe cd 'Melodia Sentimental' is net verschenen.

Tuinpodium

Carmen Terol

Carmen Terol started playing the flute at the age of six with Ateneo Musical Giner, Llaurí, Valencia, Spain. As a teacher she taught at the Young Musicians Academy training at the Tilburg conservatory. She is currently a flute teacher at the MOC Spijkenisse and the SKVR, Rotterdam.

Leonardo Palacios

The guitarist, composer and teacher Leonardo Palacios (1958 Montevideo, Uruguay) won several prizes, such as the prestigious music competition 'Maria Canals' in Barcelona and second prize at the international guitar competition 'Francisco Tarrega' in Benicasim, Valencia. He graduated as an Executive Musician from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague with maestro Antonio Pereira-Arias,

As a teacher he gave master classes at various schools and during festivals such as the Chamber Music Festival in Hellevoetsluis and Le Notte de la Chitarra in Florence. He currently teaches at the Guitar School Rotterdam and at the Center for Arts in Delft. As a soloist he performed at international guitar festivals and concert stages in countries such as Uruguay, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy and France.

His compositions radiate the popular character of the melodies and rhythms of South America: 'Milonga Vieja', 'Aire de Gato', 'Cancion de Arrullo', for guitar solo and 'Milonga del Caminante', for guitar and bandoneon. In addition, he is also inspired by poetry by F. Garcia Lorca (1898-1936) with his 'Sonetos del Amor Oscuro', for mezzo-soprano and guitar. His CD with South American composers 'Nostalgias' from 2015 has been received with great success and his new CD 'Melodia Sentimental' has just been released.
