The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance
Vrijdag 12 juni - The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance bestaat uit het duo Massimiliano Dosoli (klarinetten) en Piero Conte (gitaar). Piero en Massimiliano ontmoetten elkaar tijdens hun studie aan Codarts en werden goede vrienden. Het duo deelt een vergelijkbare visie op muziek en vriendschap en beschouwt 'Onwetendheid' als een prachtige en belangrijke waarde die altijd aanwezig is in hun levenskeuzes. Onwetendheid bij het vieren van zo maar in het wilde weg, het pad naar onontdekte plaatsen. Waarheid ligt op de magische plek tussen 'het bekende' en 'het onbekende' en alleen met zeer bewuste, dagelijkse beoefening en onbewuste, onwetende keuzes kan Waarheid worden gevonden.
De muziek van dit duo haalt elementen uit de traditionele jazztaal (Ellington, Monk, Parker) maar wordt sterk beïnvloed door hedendaagse rock en elektronische muziek (Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Tom Waits). Het repertoire is een mix van eigen composities en covers van andere bands (Jim Black Alasnoaxis, Tinissima Quartet ecc). Bio's
Piero Conte (1996) is een gitarist, componist geboren in Rome, momenteel woonachtig in Rotterdam. Hij studeerde aan het St. Louis College of Music in Rome en verhuisde later naar Codarts. Hij is actief lid van RBSN en Antares Flare waar hij zowel als componist als performer werkt. Hij speelde met Roberto Gatto, Maurizio Giammarco en vele andere belangrijke jazzspelers. Hij trad op tijdens vele jazzfestivals zoals Jazz in de Gracht, International Music Meeting, Brand New Jazz Festival.
Massimiliano Dosoli (1991) is een klarinettist en componist geboren in Ostiglia (Mantova), momenteel woonachtig in Rotterdam. Hij studeerde in 2017 af in Jazz Clarinet aan de Siena Jazz University en verhuisde later naar Codarts waar hij Jazz Composition studeert. Hij is de oprichter van Superposthardbop 4tet en van het Plankton Orchestra. Hij speelde met Reinier Baas, Emanuele Parrini, Silvia Bolognesi en vele andere belangrijke muzikanten. Met Superposthardbop trad hij op in Cala Gonone Jazz Festival in 2019 in het voorprogramma van Omar Hakim en Kurt Rosenwinkel.
Als verrassing speelde ook Matteo Paggi (trombone) mee tijdens de set na de pauze.

The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance is the duo of Massimiliano Dosoli (Clarinets) and Piero Conte (Guitar). Piero and Massimiliano met during their studies at Codarts and became very good friends. The duo shares a similar vision of music and friendship and considers “Ignorance” a wonderful and important value always present in their life choices. Ignorance in the celebration of randomness, the pathway to undiscovered places. Truth lays in the magical place between “the known” and “the unknown” and only with very conscious, daily practice and unconscious, ignorant choices Truth can be found.
The music of this duo takes element from traditional jazz language (Ellington, Monk, Parker) but is very influenced by contemporary rock and electronic music (Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Tom Waits). Piero Conte (Rome 1996) is a guitarist, composer born in Rome, currently living in Rotterdam. He studied at the S.Louis College of Music in Rome and later moved to Codarts.
