Vrijdag 21 februari - Met groot plezier kondigen we de speciale voorvertoning aan van de IFFR 2020 Tiger competitiefilm DRAMA GIRL (90'). Editor ALBERT MARKUS en regisseur VINCENT VINCENT BOY KARS (1991) zijn erbij voor een gesprek over de montage van de film. We beginnen het filmprogramma zoals ook eerder aangekondigd met INVERSE ME, een fascinerende korte film van onze derde speciale gast NINA CATHARINA MARKUS (1993). NINA werkt als illustrator en animatorfilmer. ALBERT is een ervaren in Rotterdam gevestigde editor. Op IMDb tel ik 46 credits beginnend met de wonderbaarlijk mooie MOTHER DAO (1995) tot DRAMA GIRL uit 2020. Dit is VINCENTs tweede lange film. DRAMA GIRL wordt 5 maart aanstaande in de bioscoop uitgebracht. Is het een documentaire, een speelfilm? DE VOLKSKRANT heeft het over "een prachtig vormgegeven kruising tussen speelfilm en documentaire." TROUW: “Een filmexperiment in de beste zin van het woord.” CINEUROPA: “Door dramatische gebeurtenissen uit haar eigen leven na te spelen, wordt DRAMA GIRL een experiment waarin een jonge vrouw de hoofrol speelt in een film gebaseerd op haar eigen levensverhaal. We’ll have the editor ALBERT MARKUS and the director VINCENT BOY KARS (1991) for a talk on editing! So we’ll start the film program as mentioned before with INVERSE ME, a fascinating short by NINA CATHARINA MARKUS (1993).

ALBERT is a prolific Rotterdam based editor, on IMDb you can count 46 credits starting with the wonderous MOTHER DAO (1995) up to DRAMA GIRL (2020), director VINCENTs second feature. DRAMA GIRL will have its theatrical release in Dutch cinemas on upcoming March 5. Is it documentary, is it fiction? VOLKSKRANT wrote “A beautifully designed mixture”. So what to expect? TROUW says “a film experiment in the true sense of the word”. CINEUROPA tells us “By re-enacting dramatic events from her own life DRAMA GIRL is an experiment in which a young woman is the protagonist in a film based on het own life story. During the process, the filmmaker (Vincent Boy Kars) and the lead-actress (Leyla de Muynck) negotiate on how her story should be told.
