Eastward Project

Eastward is a band founded by Arash Badie, an Iranian tar player and composer. The band started its activities as a trio, presenting the compositions of Arash with the usage of eastern and western instrumentation, namely tar, piano and clarinet. The Eastward’s repertoire comprises of original pieces which are set to a combination of different musical cultures, such as middle east, and western harmony and musical forms. In addition, by applying auditory factors, feelings and emotions, memories and past images, accompanied by various elements, Arash produces his music, not too complicated nor too simple collection as his personal impression. Eastward consists of two other musicians: Italian saxophone player, Orlando Cialli who plays piano in the band, and Panos Skouteris from Greece, playing the Clarinet. the band’s members are all currently students of Codarts University of Arts based in Rotterdam. Moreover, Eastward had its first performance on May 2022 at Matrix venue located in the heart of Rotterdam, and will continue with more concerts on September 2022.
